How is the new European currency helping the European economy. Do you think it's actually bad for the countries in the long run? Or will it be bad in the long run?
Got me thinking. If Canadian dollar and the U.S. dollar is the same value. It would be kind of the same situation that's happening in Europe. Interesting. Or am I totally wrong

Yeah, now that I think about it. You do have a point. It's becoming sort of like a separate version of the United States. In the U.S., the states are all separate, but are unified by the Union. Altough, it's far-fetched, this could be a possibility. Interesting.
Canadian Dollar up and rising against the U.S. , now at US$1.04.
Not always good for exporting country like Canada and doing 80% of its business with the U.S. For Canadian importers and foreign investing in the U.S. it is the reverse. Although let's see if Tthe U.S. dollar climbs back when Bush's term is over!

well its helped some countries, I mean, many european currencies used to be quite weak compared to the dollar, now the euros stronger than it. However, in the long run, us brits have benefited from not adopting the euro. Its all part of the big europe plan, most countries are in on it, us brits, we aint so sure where we stand.

Pro Given how closely linked the Canada and US economies are, a common currency might not be a bad thing. Then again, the link isn't perfect -- Canada's economy of late has been a lot better than that of the US. Which is of course reflected in the rise of the Canadian dollar relative to its US counterpart...

i always start off by wondering in whose best interests these things happen...i'm fairly certain that currencies are decided for reasons other than the consumers benefit.
if i had my way there would only be one currency for the whole world, and countries would either have a lot of money, or they wouldn't, and the differences would be obvious.
it all seems unnecessarily complex to me!
